2012 Official Rules
Prize Package includes:
- Two (2) 1st Place Prizes – one for the 1st place girl and one for the 1st place boy will be an aircraft ride with aerobatic legend Greg Poe.
- Two (2) 2nd Place Prizes – one for the 2nd place girl and one for the 2nd place boy will be an aircraft ride in the chase plane following aerobatic legend Greg Poe.
- To Enter: No purchase necessary; limited to one entry per person. Contest entry deadline is July 2, 2012 at 11:59 PM EST. Judging to be held on July 8, 2012. To enter, complete an online registration form. Registration forms with missing or incomplete information will not be accepted.
- Eligibility: Contest open to all legal residents of the United States entering grades 6 – 8 for the 2012 – 2012 academic year. Vectren Dayton Air Show staff, and their employees, carriers, contractors, distributors, wholesalers and their immediate families (spouse, parents, children, siblings) are not eligible to enter. One winner per household. Void where prohibited by law.
- Submission guidelines/judging criteria: All essays will be titled “Elevate Your Life” and should answer the following questions:
- What is your dream?
- How do you plan to achieve your dream?
- What will you do when you when you reach that dream?
Submissions will be evaluated on their ability to clearly and creatively communicate this theme. Essays may contain no more than 250 words.
Please note: Entries must not include any copyrighted material (or material produced by a third party) other than the entrant’s own work.
- Prizes: Two (2) first prizes will be awarded (one to the 1st place girl and one to the 1st place boy) and each will include:

Please Note: Due to aircraft safety restrictions, riders must be between 5’ – 6’, weigh no more than 200 lbs, and be able to physically sit upright in the seat. Winner must be available for plane ride at assigned time during the 2012 Vectren Dayton Air Show. Riders parent/guardian must accompany the rider to the airport and sign the required release forms before the child can take the flight.

No substitutions, transfer of prize or cash equivalents are permitted.
- Judging: Judging of all eligible entries will take place on July 8, 2012 by representatives of the Vectren Dayton Air Show Presented by Kroger. Winners will be notified of results by July 8, 2012 via phone.
- To Claim Prize: Winner only will be notified by phone. All prize winners will be required to reply via phone or e-mail within 24 hours to the Vectren Dayton Air Show Presented by Kroger. Forfeited prizes will be awarded to a new winner until an eligible winner is found.
- Release: By acceptance of any prize, winner agrees to release and hold forever harmless the Vectren Dayton Air Show Presented by Kroger, Greg Poe and their agents and representatives and each such company’s officers, directors, employees and agents (collectively, the “Released Parties”) from and against any claim or cause of action, including, but not limited to, personal injury, death or damage to or loss of property, arising out of participation in the contest or receipt or use of any prize or any travel in connection therewith. Riders’ parent/guardian must accompany the rider to the airport and sign the required forms before the child can take the flight.
- Disputes: Except where prohibited, entrant agrees that any and all disputes, claims and causes of action arising out of or connected with this contest or any prize awarded shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, and exclusively by the U.S. District Court for Ohio or the appropriate Ohio State Court located in Montgomery County, Ohio under the laws of Ohio without regard to that state’s conflict of laws provisions.
- Limitations of Liability: The Released Parties are not responsible for: (1) any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by entrants, printing errors or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the contest; (2) technical failures of any kind; (3) unauthorized human intervention in any part of the entry process or the contest; (4) technical or human error which may occur in the administration of the contest or the processing of entries; (5) acts of nature or mechanical; or (6) any injury or damage to persons or property which may be caused, directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, from entrant’s participation in the contest or receipt or use of any prize. If for any reason an entrant’s entry is confirmed to have been erroneously deleted, lost or otherwise destroyed or corrupted, entrant’s sole remedy is another entry in the contest.
- Publicity: Except where prohibited, participation in the contest constitutes winner’s consent to Sponsor and its agents’ use of winners’ name, likeness, voice, opinions, biographical information, hometown and state for promotional purposes in any media, worldwide, without further payment or consideration.
- Generally: The Vectren Dayton Air Show Presented by Kroger will not collect or store information about contest participants except for the information set forth on the entry form. Information transmitted to the Vectren Dayton Air Show Presented by Kroger by electronic mail or otherwise will generally be treated as non-confidential and non-proprietary and may be used by the Vectren Dayton Air Show Presented by Kroger as set forth in paragraph 9 above.
- General Conditions: Sponsor reserves the right to cancel, suspend and/or modify the contest and award the prizes from among eligible entries received prior to such action if any fraud, technical failures or any other factor beyond Sponsor’s reasonable control impairs the integrity or proper functioning of the contest as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion. Sponsor reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any individual it finds to be tampering with the entry process or the operation of the contest or to be acting in violation of these Official Rules or in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner. Sponsor’s failure to enforce any term of these Official Rules shall not constitute a waiver of that provision. Contest is void where prohibited by law.
